is working to mobilize students and the general youth to message their lawmakers and demand common-sense gun regulations.
Students Act Now and everyone signing this petition is demanding that lawmakers take action when it comes to gun violence, such as legislating necessary, common-sense, and over-due gun regulations to protect the general public from gun violence.
We are demanding:
1) Ban AR-15s and other assault weapons that use high-capacity magazines,
2) Ban the marketing of weapons of war to civilians,
3) Ban the production of kits that allow for untraceable and unrecorded guns ‘ghost guns’ to be made,
4) Prohibit the gun industry from working with dealers who do not run background checks and comply with other state and federal gun sale regulations,
5) Require gun locks to be placed on gun safes and that the gun locks are more difficult to open,
6) Actively encourage and require the safe storage and handling of guns,
7) Ban ‘ghost guns,’
8) Require that all dealers and any other form of gun distributor, whether licensed or not, utilize background checks,
9) Implement and actively enforce a code of conduct for gun dealers to ensure they operate under good faith and within the bounds of the law,
10) Prohibit any person who has been in prison, a mental hospital, or any other notable instances of domestic abuse or violence from owning a gun without a proper review,
11) Implement necessary security protocols in schools to protect from guns,
12) Actively encourage and promote the ‘see something, say something’ phrase in an effort to prevent instances of school shootings.
